F. Scott Fitzgerald said it best. "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." In light of that we've got something new, a tea based cocktail. We'll be doing a series of these to include some hot stuff, but that's not at hand. Here's something mango for a last grasp at summer with a dark rum to set you right for a first seasonal bout with nighttime jacket wearing.
Generally a great sugar low or lacking alternative to soda and juice bases. Mango, in this case, is an easy door into the tea world for the uninitiated. We encourage something store bought if you're not sure what to look for, just read the label to account for sweet content (recipe features simple syrup). Or brew your own! Harney & Sons has several good options in their catalog. Troy resident The Whistling Kettle also carries a lovely Mango Amazon blend.
Anything dark-ish and spicy will suffice. The Kraken, Bacardi Black, Goslings Black Seal is our preference.
Garnish, citrus, highlights the mango.
Nip tuck when accounting for the sugar content in your choice of tea base. A dash or so to bring out flavors, etc.
All ingredients into a shaker full with ice, shake and strain into a glass full of fresh ice. Garnish with lemon and sip on.
1 part mango tea
1.5 parts rum
.5 parts simple syrup (discretionary)
